Shree Chauhan is the Washington Bureau’s Legislative Manager for Education and Health Policy and began her career as an educator.   After her time in the classroom, Ms. Chauhan supported efforts to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act at the U.S. Department of Education, assisted several Senate offices’ education policy work and supported the Data Quality Campaign’s federal policy team.

At the Urban League, Ms. Chauhan connects her classroom experience to help lead the movement’s policy work in education and health.  She conducts legislative research and analyses, develops policy recommendations, handles external partner outreach and provides affiliates with technical assistance to advance the Urban League’s local education advocacy.   Ms. Chauhan’s education portfolio spans grades PK-16, with an emphasis on Common Core State Standards, teacher effectiveness and accountability.   Her health policy work is focused on eliminating health disparities.

Ms. Chauhan earned her Bachelor of Communications from the University of Miami and her Master of Public Administration from American University.
