Urban League Affiliate Policy Task Forces

As state and local government assert a more direct role in public policies around critical like healthcare and education, the need for on-the-ground community-based organizations to advocate on behalf of their constituents becomes more urgent.

The Washington Bureau created Affiliate Policy Task Forces to equip affiliate CEOs with the tools and knowledge to champion the policies that directly impact their ability to serve their communities.

There is an Affiliate Policy Task Force for each of the issues embodied in the Urban League’s Empowerment Goals: Healthcare, Housing, Education and Jobs. Each Task Force is staffed by an Urban League legislative policy director in partnership with Urban League programming staff.

The Affiliate Policy Task Forces provide a structure for affiliate CEOs to contribute to the development of the League’s policy agenda; increase the understanding of the programs and functions of the affiliates in order to strengthen their federal advocacy and to identify and elevate strong programs and evaluation systems for policy audiences.

Affiliate Policy Task Forces are open to all Urban League CEOs, who commit to participate for a two-year term.
