Senior Director and Chief of Staff
Cara McKinley has primary responsibility for directing and implementing the operations and programming for the Washington Bureau.

Vice President of Research and Chief Economist
Dr. Valerie Rawlston Wilson plans and directs the Urban League's research agenda and shapes the organization’s national economic policy.

Vice President Communications and External Affairs
Pamela Springs directs policy communications for the Washington Bureau in support of the Urban League's legislative policy agenda and research activities.


Suzanne Bergeron

Senior Legislative Director for Workforce, Civil Rights and Social Services
Suzanne M. Bergeron is a long-time member of the Washington Bureau and is responsible for promoting the Urban League’s policy and legislative agenda pertaining to the workforce, civil rights and social services, including workforce development, voting rights and voter suppression; and securing the wellbeing of children and families involved in the child welfare system

Senior Legislative Director for Education and Health Policy
Susie Saavedra monitors policy developmnents and helps devise advocacy strategies that support the Urban League’s goals to provide quality, accessible healthcare; and promote education reform that prepares children for college work and life.


Hazeen Y. Ashby, Esq.

Legislative Director for Research, Policy and Civic Engagement
Hazeen Y. Ashby monitors policy development related to telecommunications, immigration and civic engagement; and directs advocacy strategies that advance the Urban League's legislative agenda in these areas.


Kyle R. Williams, Esq.

Legislative Director for Financial and Housing Policy
Kyle R. Williams closely monitors legislative and regulatory measures and develops advocacy strategies that promote economic empowerment through job creation, wealth building, and access to affordable and safe housing.


Shree Chauhan

Legislative Manager for Education and Health Policy
Shree Chauhan conducts legislative research and analyses, handles external partner outreach and provides affiliates with technical assistance to advance the Urban League’s education and health advocacy

Sean Mickens is a Broadband and Technology Fellow and works closely with the Washington Bureau's legislative and research staff to monitor telcommunications policy and the impact on economic empowerment in urban and underserved communities.
