Sean Mickens is the 2013-2014 Broadband and Technology Fellow. Mr. Mickens works closely with the Washington Bureau's legislative and research staff to review, monitor and report on telcommunications policy and its impact on economic empowerment in urban and underserved communities.
Before joining the Urban League, Mr. Mickens served as the Assistant Director of Development for the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy (ACS). In this role, he developed and coordinated fundraising and outreach events around the country, and oversaw the major donor programming for the organization. Mr. Mickens was also responsible for the successful organization and execution of the annual ACS national convention. He began his tenure as an ACS Programs Fellow, where he assisted the National Programs team with planning for all national programming, and the distribution and editing of Advance and ACS issue briefs.
Before joining ACS, Mr. Mickens was the Executive Assistant to the Vice Presidents and Founders at Third Way. He graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Howard University. As the Lucy Dalbiac Luard Scholar, Mr. Mickens also studied government at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
