Courtney O’Neal is a Special Assistant at the Washington Bureau Courtney and provides her expertise in new media, media outreach and communications. Assisting on a number of special projects and events, Courtney helps to socialize the message and mission of the Urban League and the Washington Bureau by expanding its digital footprint. She is responsible for the creation of the Bureau’s social media presence and development of new media grassroots advocacy initiatives. Ms. O’Neal also serves as Copyeditor and feature writer for the Bureau’s Washington Updates weekly newsletter. While her title reads as Special Assistant, Courtney concurrently serves as the organization’s Social Media Planner/Coordinator-helping to amplify our legislative agenda to policy audiences through daily posts to all social media outlets.
Ms. O’Neal’s background includes campaign experience as a state coordinator with the Obama 2008 campaign and working for President Obama’s successor in the Senate, Sen. Roland Burris. She is a proud graduate of one the nation’s leading liberal arts institutions, Spelman College, with a BA in English, and recently received her Master’s degree in Communications from Trinity Washington University.
