As Legislative Director for Financial and Housing Policy, Kyle Williams works to analyze legislative and regulatory measures and offer advocacy strategies that advance the Urban League’s mission to promote economic empowerment through job creation, wealth building and access to affordable and safe housing. Mr. Williams analyzes legislation, crafts advocacy strategies and meets with Members of Congress, related federal agencies, and their staff to promote economic empowerment through job creation, wealth building and access to affordable and safe housing. He also staffs the Affiliate Housing Policy Task Force to keep Urban League CEOs abreast of national policy developments and help them develop strategies to can advocate for their interests at the state and local level.
Mr. Williams comes to the Washington Bureau from the office of Rep. Marcia L. Fudge (D-OH) where he served as a Legislative Assistant handling issues related to financial services and housing. Mr. Williams began his tenure with Rep. Fudge in 2009 as a Legal Fellow.
Mr. Williams also has experience in the consumer finance industry, and previously served as a Senior Loan Officer for MBNA America and as a Mortgage Broker for Allied Home Mortgage Capital Corporation.
Mr. Williams is active in his community where, among his activities, he tutors disadvantaged youth. He earned his undergraduate degree from Ohio University and his juris doctorate from the Ohio State University’s Michael E. Moritz College of Law.
