The National Urban League President and CEO Marc H. Morial today issued the following statement on the introduction of The Strong Start for America’s Children Act:
“The Urban League has long held that a robust and quality early childhood education is the on-ramp to academic success, economic opportunity and empowerment. We applaud Senator Harkin and Representatives Miller and Hanna for their leadership and commitment to ensure that underserved children have a solid foundation for a lifetime of learning and achievement. The Strong Start for America’s Children Act is a promising first step on the path to provide high-quality early childhood education to all children so that they succeed in college, work and life. The National Urban League is pleased to see many of our priorities included in this legislation and we look forward to working with members of Congress as this bill progresses.”
